Tom Lohner and the BMW Reiterer dealership, with the help of the foiling company Unite Designs, created something absolutely beautiful, an unprecedented eye-catcher.
The symbiosis of a custom-made work of art on a mobile, technical masterpiece is designed to surprise. The car is now set to inspire throughout 2024 and beyond, showing how a "canvas" breaks its format and comes to life - a symbol of mobilized creativity.
Auctioned for 22.000€ at ORF Sport am Sonntag für Licht ins Dunkel / 10.December 2023
< 120 x 150 cm // Acrylic on canvas >
After Tom Lohner has already implemented projects for “Light in the Dark” with Marcel Hirscher and David Alaba, this year it is again a global star who will develop a personal painting with Tom. This time, the Graz artist will create a visually strong and very personal painting together with slalom and giant slalom world champion Henrik Kristoffersen from the Van Deer Red Bull Sports Team.
The painting by Henrik Kristoffersen is part of an extraordinary portrait series by the artist Tom Lohner, which ranges from Lady Gaga to Tiger Woods to Freddie Mercury, Mick Jagger and Vivienne Westwood.
The painting shows the ski star in the middle of the descent of the slalom race, the finish/certain victory just a few meters ahead of him. His energetic gaze is goal-oriented, the motto "No Risk - no Fun" is embedded in his race jersey. The connection between Norway and Austria is united in a specially designed flag, which partly wraps around his racing pants but also subtly integrates his VanDeer - RedBull skis. In addition to the numerous hidden details, the work also visualizes what can be achieved with pure energy, motivation but also joy: Because nothing is impossible!

”Huff & Puff into your dreams” - describes the moment before falling asleep. Reality fades away - out of nowhere sleep finds you and figures, shapes, phrases, sounds and movements start to appear out of nowhere.
This specific artwork plays with Tom’s childhood fantasies, probably also inspired by a Mark Ryden artwork from the 90’s.

Zeus, the ruler of the Olymp and owner of the powerful thunderbolt exchanging energy with his daughter Athene, goddess of wisdom, art and handcraft. Raw energy of a storm meets clever craftsmanship, stored in a power bank ready to be released. Analogies to Odyssey’s and other greek mythologies exist in the painting. The roses on the right stand for the natural beauty of Athena - and vivid, neon colors underline the powerful vision and add even more dynamic to this artwork.

Prototype artwork #2 of the series “Arcadia”.
The artwork’s observer takes part in the subject matter, as she/he get’s “checked out” by the girl in the shopping cart. This piece resembles a daydream in a random laundry, in which one loses sense of time and space.
I'm Your Daydream wasn't called that arbitrarily, it's about capturing a daydream - a moment in which reality and fantasy combine and become one.
The entire series “Arcadia” deals with exactly this topic, but in the other works the viewer always sees actions of others who are experiencing a “daydream”, it is completely different here with “I’m Your Daydream”. This work plays with the viewer himself as the observer is invited to experience a vision of such a daydream.
We see a young lady placed in a shopping cart in a laundry. This “cart” is normally used for clean laundry - but this time it was used for a different purpose. The lady / “day-dream-dream woman” pushes her shades off her nose and looks at the person opposite (checks us out). Furthermore, the bottom of this shopping cart is covered with warm, bubbling water, which could also be reminiscent of a bathtub situation. There is also a soft padding layer underneath her that makes everything EVEN softer (hence the word “Soft” repeated over and over again). The words “Beauty” and “Illusion” were hidden in the frame of the car - these reflect the title of the work of art.
To make the picture look even more dreamy, various items of laundry fly out of the dryer. These are linked to the title of the artwork.
On the sole of the shoe itself there is “SOS” - a cry for help, so to speak, because this moment is too good to be true.
Another small detail of this “I think I’ve fallen in love with my daydream” message can be found on the glass of a washing drum, because “Love will find you” is written there in two semicircles. This message shows that ultimately everything is always good.

Sharing Gas is part of the series Arcadia / it is prototype artwork #1 of that theme and conveys the moment of daydreaming; in this particular scene - one observes a woman filling up her car with gas. While doing so, her mind wanders off and transforms this scene into a “love story”. She re-invents this in reality rather boring late-night moment into a moment of love at first sight. But it is not only her “dream - man” she finds waiting on the other side of the gas station filling up his muscle car with gas, with this feeling also her car swaps its appearance and loses gravity as she does as well.
The loss of gravity stands for the actual daydream - not real - but its dreamed outcome is very much anticipated.
The artwork’s messages are disguised within it’s typographic elements.

”Welcome the Queen” is part of the series “ A Night at the Burbon Hotel”, showing 13 characters that celebrate at a lavish party in the near future; all of them dressed in a 1920’s style. The collection of artworks take on the theme of “history repeating itself”.
This specific character (the Queen) is one of the main people joining the event. She is the one, that every guest turns their head towards when she walks in through the door, justifying the name of the artwork. The Queen is accompanied by two flamingos, symbolizing beauty, balance and romance. Frequently, these meanings emerge from the striking characteristics they have. Life balance: their effortless grace and ability to stand on one leg represent balance and harmony, just like the artwork’s protagonist does.

Art and rock music are united by a one-of-a-kind collaboration, between painter Tom Lohner and the guitar rock legend Joey Zampella of "Life of Agony".
A very special #gibson flying V guitar served as a canvas, showing a nightmare of a young girl in her nightgown. The scene consists of countless details such as a horror figure on the top left and two claws grasping for that little one, who holds tight to her cuddly toy. Further, a vintage radio with Joey's initials makes up a part of the background and therefore sets a "musical" dark, macabre, and in detail illustrated scene.
The guitar's back reads the name of the guitar "The Shadow", it also shows a staircase that vanishes on the very top of the guitar's neck.

The painting’s message is a positive one, as we should focus if possible more on the positivities that happen around us day by day - shown by clouds and the gazing eyes, rather than linger with negative thoughts from past events, resembled by the dark forest that creates the artwork’s background. The world's first painting created by a human - machine symbiosis
Half man, half machine: the world's first painting to be made with the help of artificial intelligence (AI) comes from Austria. Artist Tom Lohner and AI specialist Christian Weber are the creators of an international premiere. For the duo, the high-tech painting marks more than a new art era, this is also the symbolic beginning of the fifth industrial revolution.
"Artistic start symbol"
Artificial intelligence has the potential to trigger a lasting, profound reshaping of society that has only been known from the industrial revolutions so far. This symbiosis of artificial and human intelligence, used for the first time in art, could become the artistic starting symbol of the fifth revolution. To achieve this, the duo has fully exploited the modern possibilities of artificial intelligence: an artificial intelligence specially developed for “RoboLove” has analyzed countless Lohner paintings, it examined them for their creative rules and irregularities.
The work that emerged from the human - machine symbiosis shows a floating robot - an allusion to the “Tin Man” from the “Wizard of Oz”. „It is intended to illustrate that, despite all technologies, human empathy remains most important," emphasize Lohner and Weber in unison.
Man made is the end.
By the way, Lohner is responsible for the last “RoboLove” brush strokes - including fine optimization - a tribute to art, because: “The first and last chapter of each one of these five art pieces has to be done by a real person. Technologies and machines can simplify our lives, but they can never replace us. "

The Reporter is part of an assignment for the “50 years of Kronen Zeitung” celebration. A combination of 10 artworks representing Styria is featured on the tram driving through Graz.
This particular piece shows a hard-working woman writing her headline story for the newspapers. But different to normal reporters she activates the typewriter by only using her thoughts and starring at the machine. The piece includes a ton of hidden messages, typical for a Tom Lohner artwork.
the Revelation
In the heart of Vienna, just around the corner of the museum of modern and contemporary art (MQ), Gardegasse 3 - you will find one of the city’s oldest houses. From now on this building - a luxury boutique Hotel - received a facelift, by the award-winning artist Tom Lohner. In collaboration with Hollywood actress Rose McGowan and Calle Libre (national street art representatives) he developed the concept for an over-scale mural art piece, capturing thoughts, emotions, impacts and influences but also hope for a cure of the Corona pandemic. Years ago we created memorial sculptures of contagious plages or war memories, today Tom brought current events in a contemporary method visually to life.
The art piece anticipates, by pinkish arrows and word-fractures, the viewers to walk around the house’s corner, in order to detect a revelation of the entire artwork. It shows in an ecclesiastical way two large figures - a woman and a man, wrapped in seemingly never-ending coats - praying for a Corona antiserum. Instead of using fictional characters, Tom decided to paint Rose McGowan and Kurt Russell. Why? - because the entire Corona period, with all it’s following happenings, appear like a Hollywood film production, resembled by flying TV sets and further wording. Placed between two windows you can also find a young girl wearing a facial mask, looking towards the two protagonists, resembling aspiration towards a good end and the beginnings of a new chapter in future history.
Tom Lohner created this piece within 2 weeks (06.09 - 06.19 2020).
QUOTE / Rose McGowan:
”You did a fantastic job! I’m honored and it says so much. Proud to be a part of this art and thought for the world to see. “

Also known as “The birth of consciousness”. A robot - woman, along the alley of “Fritz Lang’s Metropolis” was created by machines, seen in the back of the painting. This piece shows the moment of awakening; Emily wakes up and tears herself loose of the cables and arms holding her down. She is set together by all sorts of mechanical parts, elements you might find in the automobile industry as well as in other categories of transport.

Mad Max the Vacuum Porsche / cleaning up the desert - with style / Jacinta Leong inspired, head of production at Mad Max Fury Road.
”An enigma for me. Dystopias are so interesting for some reason. And Mad Max is awesome exactly because of that. What happens after the course of progress is broken and history is forgotten and erased from record? This is where the artist comes in to explore and produce these alternate possibilities. What does a dystopian renaissance look like after the apocalypse? That's more or less the dry brutality that Mad Max explores.“ Quote: neosprayart

Tom’s interpretation of Tarantino’s movie "Once Upon A Time Hollywood”.
This art work is a movie poster themed piece presenting all three protagonists in a manner not seen on any posters of pr - material concerning the film. This is rather Tom’s visualization of what he felt after watching the movie. When looking deeper into the art piece the recipient will find countless elements in detail that reflect what the movie is about.
E.g. Leonardo Di Caprio’s jacket hides in a narrow and tall font the clue to the movie’s climax: “Gamechanger”

120 x 80 cm // acrylic on canvas and collaged surface. Sweetness in Disguise is a composed “Jugendstil -influences” portrait of a koala bear in shape of a well dressed woman wearing an evening gown. Cherry Blossoms complete the background’s circle - some only outlined, some painted surreal with them fading away and turning into clouds; just as in a dream. Behind the background lies a surface created not only by a plain canvas but paper cuts of ancient Zoology drawings. The artwork stands for the animalistic creatures we all are, mankind is still part of nature no matter what we create and how far we evolve, no matter what we wear and how sparkly sweet we can appear on the outside.
