LOL ME is a critical homage to our hyper-connected, yet increasingly disconnected world. Inspired by the book Call Me, this piece reimagines the traditional book cover as a visual commentary on how we communicate today—or fail to.
At its center stands a striking female figure, clutching a classic red telephone. The cord coils around her, nearly strangling her, before trailing off into the mouth of a goat—an absurd yet symbolic figure placed at the bottom left. The goat, holding the other end of the phone, becomes a strange, silent listener, reflecting how our conversations have become echoes in the digital void.
Behind her, the familiar circular dial of a vintage phone has been transformed. Instead of numbers, icons of social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube form the backdrop—reminding us of the spaces where we now “connect.”
She stands tall on a phonebook, elevated by the illusion of status and control that social media grants. In this space, anyone can be anyone—no questions asked. Yet her human body is crowned with the head of a parrot, a creature known for mimicry, not meaning. A subtle but powerful metaphor for how often we repeat, repost, and perform rather than truly express.
Hidden within the composition are the quiet words: unsocial social—a whisper of truth in the noise.
LOL ME invites viewers to reflect on the paradox of modern communication: always online, rarely present.
